There is an immediate need for volunteers on the east coast. Why not make a difference over your spring break and be apart of a team of individuals who will play an active role in aiding members of the east coast community rebuild their lives. Have you participated in Miner Challenge before? Have you always wanted to participate in Miner Challenge and just haven’t had the opportunity? Do you want to help your fellow S&T students contribute in a meaningful way and give back to a community in need? Do you want to stretch your leadership potential to new levels? Do you want to have fun?
If you answered yes to any of the questions above then you should apply to be a Miner Challenge Team Leader!
We will be taking two trips to Biloxi Mississippi, one focusing on early childhood education, the other focusing on gulf coast environmental restoration. More information on the trips will be coming out later this month. Recruitment for trip participants will start after the applications for trip leaders are turned in. If not, consider joining a Miner Challenge Alternative Spring Break trip to either Washington, D.C. or Chicago, I.L. to help those living with HIV/AIDS or affected by hunger. Check out our presentation online to learn more about this year’s trips.

Information Session and Applications
We will be having an information session tomorrow, Tuesday, November 16th at 6pm in the Gasconade Room in the Havener Center. Come learn more about the details of this year’s trip!
There will be two teams this year. One team will spend the week in Memphis and Nashville, Tennessee working on environment and conservation. The other team will spend the week in New Orleans, Louisiana working with organizations with a focus on poverty and homelessness.
If you’re interested in applying, Miner Challenge is now accepting applications on a rolling basis. Applications will be reviewed as they are received. As of now, we have 11 slots left. If you’re interested, please complete the application and submit it to Student Life with your application deposit.

Howdy, everybody! Due to an attempt on our parts to gather more fresh bodies for our excursions, we’ve decided to extend the due date for applications until November 5th, at 4:00 PM. The application is still available at the link in the post below, and those that have already submitted an application need not worry about anything, as you’re already set!
